Anna Pehrsson
Mountain building
IN Mountain building The movements of the body meet the slow changes of the mountains — the work adapts to the surroundings and in this setup it becomes anchored in the special landscape of the South Harbour tip. Over three hours, choreographer and dancer Anna Pehrsson, together with a group of dancers, creates an open field of movement and silence that emerges in dialogue with the tippen.
The South Harbour tip is a man-made landscape, shaped by waste and fill between 1945—1973 — and is today a living ecosystem. Here the ephemeral of dance now intertwines with the primeval and geologically slow. The bodies move in relation to soil, vegetation and wind, mirroring the processes of accumulation, degradation and change that have shaped the landscape.
Mountain building invites the audience into a sensual experience and a calm reflection on all that connects us: body and landscape, human action and the change of nature.
